Speedo Biofuse Goggle Review (Are they any good?)

I have been swimming with the Speedo Futura Biofuse Flexiseal Goggles for a few years now and I want to share my honest experience of using these swimming goggles.

To be upfront, these are my goggles of choice and the ones I swim with every day. They have never let me down and are perfect for fitness pool swimming.

Although I have a range of swimming goggles that I have tested, the Speedo Unisex Futura Biofuse Flexiseal Swimming Goggles are my favourite.

In this review, I will cover the features of these goggles in great detail and help you decide if they belong in your swim bag, answering the following commonly asked questions.

Are The Speedo Futura Biofuse Goggles Comfortable?

The Speedo Futura Biofuse Flexiseal are very comfortable goggles. Of all the goggles I have ever tried, I have found them the most comfortable of all.

A design feature of the “Futura Biofuse Flexiseal” range is the large and soft rubber sealing gasket.

This creates a soft and comfortable seal, keeping water out of the goggles. As this is large and soft, it creates a very comfortable pair of goggles, which is perfect for long pool training sessions.

Do The Speedo Futura Biofuse Goggles Fog Up Easily?

These goggles are fitted with anti-fog protection. This means that there is a thin anti-fog film on the inside of the goggle lens, which stops them from fogging up.

Goggles fog up because there is a temperature difference between your face and the water. Just like a foggy car window on a cold morning, until the temperature differential is balanced, there will be some fog on the inside of the glass.

Therefore, if you jump into the pool at first, these goggles will fog. After a couple of lengths, the fog will clear and you will be able to enjoy a long “fog-free” swim.

Try to avoid wiping the inside of the goggle lens with your fingers, as this will remove the anti-fog film protection.

How Long Do The Speedo Futura Biofuse Goggles Last?

As a general rule, you can expect to get at least three months of regular swimming from these goggles before you notice decay in performance.

I swim with these goggles every day, so they are exposed to a chlorinated pool for 45 minutes every day.

I have found that after three months at this level of swimming, the fog protection is not as effective and the flexiseal gasket tends to get water marks and an aged look.

A daily rinse in clean water keeps these goggles in good shape, but three months of regular swimming will lead to an upgrade.

Are The Speedo Futura Biofuse Goggles Suitable For Small Faces?

I have found the Speedo Futura Biofuse Flexiseal Goggles good for small faces.

I consider myself a small-face swimmer and these goggles feel good on my face. (You may consider yourself a small-face swimmer if you find goggles feel too big or “stick out too far” from your face)

If you like the Speedo Futura Biofuse Flexiseal Goggles but still find them a little large, then I recommend the Junior Speedo Futura Biofuse Flexiseal Goggles.

These are identical to the adult Speedo goggles, but are slightly smaller, making them great for smaller faces.

What Is The Best Goggle Lens Colour To Get?

The swimming goggle lens colour you choose depends on the lighting conditions of your swimming environment.

I swim in a public swimming pool with little natural light, therefore I have chosen the clear lens option for the best visibility in dark conditions.

Do The Speedo Futura Biofuse Goggles Leak?

Because of the large and soft gasket on the Speedo Futura Biofuse Flexiseal Goggles, they are not prone to leaking.

To ensure that swimming goggles do not leak, it is important to have a very good gasket design, which these goggles have.

The gasket should create a light suction around your eye sockets, which prevents leakage.

To check this, gently press the goggle lens to your eye socket. The goggles should lightly “suck” and stay in place for a few milliseconds. This airtight seal shows a good fit and a reduced probability of water leakage.

Although I have tested these extensively in the pool and can testify that they are fantastic swimming pool fitness goggles, they are also suitable for outdoors.

Searching for swimming goggles can be a complex and confusing thing. With so many options, it is very hard to tick all the boxes.

The great thing about the Speedo Futura Biofuse Flexiseal Goggles, is that they already tick so many boxes so the chances of getting it right the first time is greatest with these goggles.

From good anti-fog protection properties to excellent anti-leakage seals, I am a big fan of these swimming goggles and they would be the first pair I would recommend to my family and friends.
